Cantagallo is a mountain, inhabited by many rural communities. Several interesting sites can be found around the top of this mountain, including a thick pine forest, a small lagoon, steep cliffs, and thousands of orchids. Various municipalities share this mountain and one of the main points of access is the small town called Condega, located to the west side of the mountain.

The communities of San Jerónimo and Venecia are located at the mountain's peak. People from these towns have started to create conditions to receive tourists, who can get to know the forest, the agricultural activity, and the calm, daily rural life. Moreover, there is a small and comfortable hotel managed by the community.

From Venecia, the organized community offers tours through three tracks in this natural park. The shortest trail leads to the small lagoon that has a diameter of about 50 meters. The second track takes visitors to the viewpoint ‘El Frayle’ where people can take a look at the valleys and other mountains of the region. The third trail is the one that requires a good physical condition because it goes through cliffs. This last one is called ‘Campamento Guerrillero’ because it leads to one of the camping sites used by the Sandinistas in the revolution war in the 1970’s.

Cantagallo is located 22 kilometers east of Condega (Condega is at 55 kilometers from Estelí). The road is unpaved, but quite accessible. It is possible to reach all communities in a low-clearance vehicle.
