Description

The small municipal library 'Manola Cuadra' (named after a Nicaraguan writer) is located at the northern side of the San Francisco Convent. The library holds over 8,000 books about different topics, available for both local residents and foreigners.

People interested in geography, history, and Nicaraguan literature will find many works and books of reference in this library. The books, however, are all in Spanish. The library offers books (novels, stories, and poetry) of famous Nicaraguan writers like Rubén Darío, Ernesto Cardenal, Sergio Ramírez Mercado, Gioconda Belli, José Coronel Urtecho, and others.

The Manola Cuadra Library also has books about more general themes like philosophy, science, history and geography, and encyclopedias and works from the Latin American world as well as from other regions.

Reading can be done at one small room that holds a couple seats, or at a patio in the open air. This patio is connected to the one of the San Francisco Convent.

The library is open to the public from Monday to Friday, from 8AM until noon, and from 2PM until 5:30PM. The library can be contacted by phone by calling to the San Francisco Convent.
