About the Animal Guide

With this online animal guide ViaNica.com tries to offer a comprehensive collection of animal information including photos, names, descriptions, and distribution details. The guide has been set up with the support of animal experts, natural reserves, and other collaborators. The goal is to have a complete animal guide of all of Nicaragua's wildlife. We know that this will be quite a challenge, but by every animal we add we come a little closer and we hope that some day, with the support of other enthusiasts, we can complete this animal guide.

How to help

This animal guide can be completed with your help! How? There are two options. If you are an expert on a certain field (for instance, grasshoppers) then check out the animals we have listed so far. Help us by identifying unidentified animals or by correcting mistakes. Also, if you can provide more information regarding a certain animal please be sure to post this information. To report a mistake or add information, simply click the link that can be found on the animal detail page and fill in the form that is provided. If you are able to identify an animal that was not (correctly) identified before, we will put your name on the page of that animal (as 'identifier' of that species).

Another option is to send us information regarding animals that have not yet been listed. If you have photos of animals that are not included in the animal guide then feel free to send us your pictures. To be listed, your photo needs to be taken in Nicaragua. Click here to send us your photos.
