XIII Contemporary Dance Festival

This year the 13th International Contemporary Dance Festival takes place, which opened yesterday, Wednesday October 10, with a Gala presentation at the National Theater. The event presents artists from Venezuela, Spain, Honduras and Nicaragua, who are dancing at different places all over the country until Saturday October 13.

The famous professional Nicaraguan dancer, Gloria Bacon, director of the Contemporary Dance Association and founder of the festival, said that this year the event is dedicated to the master Ana Amalia Sierra, founder of the National School of Classic Ballet.

The participating groups are Espacio Alterno (Venezuela), the Provisional Dance Company (Spain), the Free Dance Company (Honduras) and the Nicaraguan National Dance School, the Art and Dance School, and independent dancers.

The presentations are taking place at Rubén Darío National Theater, the Dance School Open Space (Víctor Romeo Theater) and the Casa de los Tres Mundos, in Granada. For further information see the festival days at our Events Calendar.

As parallel activities beside the Festival, there is the Contemporary Dance workshop directed by the North-American master Kevin Irving, which opens at October 9 and closes tomorrow, October 12.
