VIII International Guitar Festival in Nicaragua

"Hearth of America" was the slogan of the eight edition of the International Guitar Festival, annual event that includes a great number of free concerts in different departments of the country and the participation of local and foreigner artists. Julio Vásquez, Nicaraguan guitarist and founder of the event, explained that genres such as classic, popular, Jazz and Flamingo were played by this artists.
"Our main goal is to encourage young people to be interested in studying the guitar", said Vásquez. This year, the festival took place in five cities of Nicaragua, such as Managua, San Marcos, Ciudad Sandino, Granada and Estelí. In addition, the founder of the festival explained that the majority of the concerts were completely free so that people could assist massively. "Its easier that an entire family come to this kind of free events", he stated.
Julio Vásquez said that among the national artists that will participate in the festival will be the guitar threesome "MP3", Wilber Vanegas, Eduardo Araica, Ramón Lozano and Duo Sigma. On the other hand, the international musicians will be Jorge Elvir from Honduras, the Salvadoran Walter Quebedo, the Cuban Gerardo Pujol and Elvis Porras from Costa Rica. There will also be the special performance of Carlos Chávez and Michael Moreira, who are members of the musical program "Música en los Barrios".
