Description
BaseCamp Hostel is located in the colonial city of Jinotepe, situated approximately 45 minutes from Managua. Its location is rather strategic, since it is only three blocks away from the central park and close to anything clients may want to visit.
The hostel is a large, modern house, with both dormitory and private accommodation. There are wide common areas on the main floor, with movies, books and games available for guests. The place also boasts a courtyard garden, providing color and light to the areas inside the house, and creating an ideal setting for some quiet relaxation. The second floor sitting area, complete with balcony, provides a view of the courtyard below and the surroundings. Wireless internet access is available throughout the house, making it easy to stay in touch with friends and family back home.
BaseCamp is also equipped with a full time kitchen that can provide three meals per day. The menu consists of local dishes, and can be modified to make accommodations for any allergy or food restrictions (with advance notice), as well as packed lunches to take to excursions.
The atmosphere at the hostel is more like a family home-stay than a typical hostel, due to the mix of guests, staff and local friends. Guests are always welcome to join any of the activities or events hosted by BaseCamp.

I've been coming to BaseCamp for three years and it has always been the most hospitable and accomodating location in the country. I anticipate coming here for many years to come.

Dear Chris,
On behalf of BaseCamp International Centers in Nicaragua we wanted to respond to your comment. First of all we have no records of you staying in our hostel. Secondly, as the Administrative Manager for the hostel I can say with confidence that the staff are treated fairly and that they enjoy working for BaseCamp International Centers. I am not sure how you received such information as none of the staff remember someone by the name of Chris who stayed at our hostel nor do we have any records of someone staying here by that name.
As for safety issues - we have staff that are available 24 hours per day. We have a designated night desk staff that is trained to help with emergency situations and we have locked spaces for guest to put their personal items. We also have a very close relationship with Fire Station and the Police station in Jinotepe.
As for not operating legally in other countries this is simply not the case. If you like you can write our Director of Operations at info@basecampcenters.com and she can address any issues or concerns you may have about this matter.
We would appreciate that if you are another hostel trying to tarnish our name that you please approach improving your business in another way. As our team at BaseCamp International Centers in Nicaragua are working hard to not only provide a safe, comfortable and fun experience but we are working to help local organizations in our community by placing international volunteers in organizations that really want extra help.
Sincerely,
Jose

May look good from the outside but this organization does not treat staff well and operates illegally in other countries. Safety and security is questionable - stay at your own risk.

I stayed with BaseCamp in December. The staff was pleasant and the rooms were clean and kept that way. The area is great and the hostel is a great place to hang out in a hammock and take in Nicaragua and it's local meals. Would definitely recommend.

Even by North American standards, La Casa Linda is one of the most beautiful places I have been fortunate to stay. The staff, food, accommodation and the ambience was above and beyond expectation. I would recommend La Casa Linda to anyone venturing through the Carazo area. Even if you aren't, it is worth a detour on your trip!
