This large tree is a Tamarind tree, and it is one of the most famous trees in León. The tree is more than 600 years old, and almost 400 years ago this same tree functioned as a gallows to hang Adiáct, the most important Indian chief of this region.
The tree is located in the indigenous Sutiaba neighborhood, and there is a small plaque that explains some of the history.
